  • I read about this place and decided to give it a go for my wife's belated birthday meal. I can't say enough about the pre-meal emails and calls from Lucy who is a co-owner with her husband Richard to assist us to get there in a timely manner given Bangkok traffic. In fact the easiest way is to take the BTS to Ari station exit 3 and then go down the lane turn right and walk along the small Soi it is on. It is a very lovely spot and first impressions are good as it is bright and has a small area outside with a table. Inside it is beautifully laid out with the immediate striking feature of the large limestone polished and smoothed rocks on which the glass tables rest. The place settings are also attractive so immediately one gets a good feeling about Rock. Lucy is extremely engaging and gave us advise on the menu AND the excellent cocktails we downed first in celebration. We ordered a Canapé Kanom Krok (3 Crusty coconut pudding filled with prawn panang curry & kafr lime leaf) - beautifully crafted and slightly spicy along with an appetiser of Crab Cream Cheese Wafer which for me was the star of the evening in that it was so subtle and tasty with the most beautifully white, soft crab on top, sublime. We also ordered the Charcoaled Chicken Liver Skewers which were again tangy and well seasoned with Szechuan pepper and garlic - cooked perfectly, the Siracha Tofu ( I don't really like Tofu but this was unique) and then one main, the Crab Curry with Rice Noodle. Lucy warned it was a "bit" spicy but in truth suited my palet very well and again was an outstanding dish. I should also say that the house red and wine were of very good quality (Tyrrells, NSW, AUS) and good value . Why do so many establishment serve up house wine you wouldn't even use to marinate food in never mind drink? After the meal we engaged in great conversation with mostly Richard (Lucy had to work!) who explained their background, the idea for the restaurant and his design of the amazing looking tables (the rocks are limestone and come from outside Bangkok and are truly stunning when you look at them closely - they make the place unique). We wanted an intimate, quality dinner but were enchanted by this place with the ambience, the superb food and the hosts who make a great effort to make you feel as if you are in a home as opposed to a place of business and succeed almost effortlessly. The reason is they truly care about ensuring you have an experience to remember - we did and we will return, soon and frequently. Well done to them.
