Although several million visitors land at Malaga Airport each year, the vast majority of them head straight for the resorts on the Costa del Sol with barely a backward glance at what is one of Spain’s most charming and historic port cities.
The historic city centre is charming, with its majestic Gothic cathedral surrounded by narrow pedestrian streets and some of the best tapas bars in the region. In recent years the city has invested heavily in its culture and heritage in the form of new museums and annual festivals of film and music.
