Charge for credit card payments

Participation in the additional costs

If you wish to pay us by credit card, we have to pay a charge to your credit card issuer. We will share this additional charge with you as the credit card user. This is a standard procedure that is called OPC.

When does a charge have to be paid?

Credit card issuers put a charge on all sales. Like very many other companies, we pass a proportion of these charges on to the people who incur them, i.e. the credit card users. This procedure is known as an Optional Payment Charge, or OPC. We list this OPC separately in the booking process when you select the payment method.

If you use you credit card again to pay for a re-booking, you do not have to pay the OPC again. There is no OPC for tickets for children under 2 years of age or Miles & More award tickets. The OPC will not be refunded if you cancel all or part of your journey.

Commencing travel in Switzerland

You will be charged the OPC if you use your credit card to pay for a ticket and start your travel in Switzerland. The amount of this charge depends on your destination.

  • Travels to a destination in Switzerland: CHF 6 per ticket
  • Travels to a destination in Europe: CHF 11 per ticket
  • Travels to a destination outside Europe: CHF 22 per ticket
