SWISS Airbus A340 and Patrouille Suisse fly together

03. May 2004

SWISS will team up with Patrouille Suisse on Wednesday, May 5, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Swiss Air Force’s air acrobatics squadron. A SWISS Airbus A340 and the Patrouille Suisse squadron will perform a joint flyover of Zurich Airport.

At approximately 08.45 the aircraft will fly over Zurich Airport’s Runway 28 from east to west, followed shortly afterward by a second manoeuvre from north to south over Runway 16. The Patrouille Suisse aircraft will accompany the Airbus A340 in various formations. The best view for spectators will be from Observation Terrace B. The programme may be altered if the weather is unfavourable.

This joint exhibition takes place within normal training procedures for both SWISS and Patrouille Suisse. The SWISS Airbus A340 is being used for pilot retraining on this day. After the exhibition the aircraft will fly on to Châteauroux, France, where MD-11 pilots are being retrained to fly the A340. Patrouille Suisse will conduct a training programme of its own after the exhibition is over.
