Christoph Franz and Stefan Lauer appointed to SWISS Board of Directors

19 October 2009

The composition of the SWISS Board of Directors is undergoing a change of personnel that sets its course for the years ahead. Christoph Franz and Stefan Lauer succeed Wolfgang Mayrhuber and Klaus Schlede.

The SWISS Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Christoph Franz and Stefan Lauer as successors to Wolfgang Mayrhuber, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, and Klaus Schlede, Member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG. This change in personnel was initiated by the expansion and reorganisation that have taken place this year in the portfolio of the Lufthansa Executive Board. Former SWISS CEO Christoph Franz had already agreed to his role on the SWISS Board of Directors at the time of his appointment to the Lufthansa Executive Board, within which Stefan Lauer, hitherto responsible for Corporate Human Resources, now also takes charge of Group Airlines. His appointment to the SWISS Board of Directors is therefore directly linked to his new function.

Rolf Jetzer, Chairman of the SWISS Board of Directors, commented on today’s announcement: “The SWISS Board of Directors has set its course for the years ahead in terms of personnel. With the appointment of Christoph Franz and Stefan Lauer, Lufthansa will continue to be represented on the SWISS Board of Directors by two exceptionally strong, experienced individuals. I look forward to working closely and productively together with both. Deserving of particular thanks today are Wolfgang Mayrhuber and Klaus Schlede for their key role in the positive development of SWISS and its successful integration into the Lufthansa Group while at the same time retaining its independence”.

Jetzer will continue to hold the post of Chairman, with Vice Chairman Walter Bosch and long-serving member Jacques Aigrain continuing in their respective roles.
