New Collective Labour Agreement with 2% salary increase for SWISS ground personnel

23 November 2010

SWISS and the KV Schweiz, PUSH, SEV-GATA and VPOD Sektion Luftverkehr unions and staff associations have reached agreement on a new Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) for the company’s Swiss-based ground personnel. The new accord includes a 2% increase in basic salaries.

SWISS and its staff associations welcome the new agreement, which incorporates attractive terms and conditions of employment for the company’s ground personnel in Switzerland and was concluded through a constructive dialogue process. The new CLA will enter into effect on 1 January 2011.

The new CLA offers improvements in terms of salary, paternity leave and retirement arrangements. Its terms include a 2% increase in basic monthly salaries (with a minimum increase of CHF 100 a month), a 2.5% increase in the present salary bands for all salary groups and the introduction of five days of paternity leave. In addition, the bridging pension paid to retirees from their ordinary retirement from SWISS at age 63 until they reach the Swiss state retirement age (and begin to receive an AHV Swiss state pension) has been increased from half to the full maximum AHV pension. The new CLA also incorporates new provisions regarding further professional training and continued employment following maternity leave. The existing Profit Participation Plan model is retained.

The conclusion of the new Collective Labour Agreement enables the present CLA, dating from 2005, to be superseded earlier than planned. After entering into effect, the new accord will remain valid for at least three-and-a-half years. It must now be approved by the relevant bodies of SWISS’s social partners.
