Trainee programmes

For the executives of tomorrow

SWISS trainee programmes are the Bachelor and Masters graduate’s key to the aviation sector. The next generation of executives benefit from the optimal entry conditions for their professional future.

Trainee programme for Masters graduates

This versatile entry-level programme promotes and prepares budding executives for their future: tackling demanding assignments at an international aviation company. Over an eighteen-month period, you will gain an extensive insight into the company. “ProTeam SWISS” is the Swiss offshoot of the general trainee programme “ProTeam” provided by the Lufthansa aviation group.

The programme

The first phase of the trainee programme introduces you to the corporate strategy and the operational contexts in an international corporate group structure. You will then complete three project deployments of four months each at various SWISS departments in Switzerland and at Lufthansa in Germany. Your practical training is concluded with a three-month deployment at a SWISS branch abroad.

Your personal development involves participation in varied training courses and a management simulation game. You can build up a wide-ranging company network by exchanging ideas and information with representatives of various corporate divisions and the ProTeam alumni. A representative of Human Resource Development will support you with regular feedback.

Requirements

Applicants for the ProTeam SWISS trainee programme must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Very good Master’s degree in economics or industrial engineering
  • Initial practical experience (e.g. on the job training), especially on the aviation sector
  • International experience like semesters or on the job training abroad
  • Fluent proficiency in German and English, other foreign languages a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and high level of personal initiative
  • Fast perception, ability to work on a team, and marked communication skills
  • The ability to communicate and present subjects to specific target groups

Application and selection

For this trainee programme, apply online at the SWISS job market. The Recruiting Team analyses the application materials, conducts telephone interviews and then shortlists potential candidates. These candidates are invited to the Assessment Centre for further assignments and talks. The next programme will start in early 2015.

Trainee programme for Bachelor graduates

This varied entry-level programme targets Bachelor graduates specialising in aviation and prepares them over a twelve-month period for demanding assignments at an international aviation company. Participants can expect diverse insights into the SWISS company.

The programme

During your one-year SWISS Experience, you will put your talents to the test in a range of aviation activities. You will complete two project deployments of four months each at various SWISS departments. In addition, you will be deployed for six to eight weeks at a branch abroad.

Your personal development involves participation in specialised and method training courses. A simulation game lets you familiarise yourself with the complex contexts at an aviation company.
