SWISS and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) offer a feeder service between Basel Central Station and Zurich Airport.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT AIRTRAIN
- The Airtrain fare is included in the ticket price when you book SWISS to/from Basel (code EAP).
- For smooth connections you have the choice of 16 Airtrain connections daily in both directions.
- Journey time is 80 minutes; no change of train is involved.
- SWISS First and Business Class tickets are valid for 1st class rail travel, SWISS Economy tickets for 2nd class rail travel.
MANDATORY TICKET CHECK ABOARD
There are several ways in which you can comply with the mandatory ticket check aboard the Airtrain
- E-Ticket with barcode
SWISS.COM/YOURTRIP: You can send your SWISS E-Ticket with barcode to any e-mail address you like at any time.
- Web Check-In
SWISS.COM/WEBCHECKIN: You can save time by selecting your seat and printing your boarding card within 32 hours of departure.
- Check-in at Basel SBB rail station
The counter on the lower floor is open daily from 08:00 to 19:45. The latest possible check-in time before departure is 15 minutes. No baggage service aboard Airtrain.
- Return journey: through-check-in to Basel
For your return journey, you will be checked in from your departure point through to Basel and at the same time you will receive the boarding card for your Airtrain segment from Zurich Airport to Basel.
If no E-Ticket with barcode is available and it is not possible for you to check in prior to departure, the SBB rail personnel will, as an exception, accept travel agency confirmation of your flight as a valid travel document. The ticket number must be visible in such situations.
NO BAGGAGE SERVICE ABOARD AIRTRAIN
If you are travelling between Basel SBB and Zurich Airport, please note that your baggage cannot be checked in for your outbound or return flight. If you have checked in at Basel for your flight, on arrival at Zurich Airport you can hand over your baggage at Special Counter number 311, at Check-In 3. This counter is located close to the railway station platform. On arrival by air at Zurich, you must collect your baggage at the airport.
The SBB offers Check-in at the railstation with luggage. Baggage must be handed over several hours before departure. For further information: SBB.CH/CHECKIN
MORE FLEXIBILITY WITH SO MANY TRAINS TO CHOOSE FROM
SWISS customers may choose to travel with any train on the route after they have checked in on their date of travel. This option also exists for rail travel involving a change of train at Zurich Central Station.

Miles & More members can earn valuable award, status and HON Circle miles, according to class of air travel and route flown. Flights in SWISS Economy earn 125 to 1000 miles per route; those in SWISS Business are credited with 1500 miles per route.
