Swiss wins “best short-haul airline” at the 2009 Guardian and Observer Travel Awards On 16 October 2009 Swiss International Air Lines received the esteemed ‘best short-haul airline’ award at the 23rd Annual Guardian and Observer Travel Awards.

Condé Nast Traveller readers vote SWISS as top airline
On 2 September Swiss International Air Lines was honoured as runner up in the “short-haul leisure airline” category at the Condé Nast Traveller reader awards. Gregor Koncilja, SWISS’s country manager UK and Ireland, said, “We are delighted that the readers of the UK’s most reputable travel magazine have shown such clear recognition of our airline’s product and services now for a second year in a row.”
SWISS offers a third off child fares to Europe from the UK
SWISS has introduced a child fare, which is 33% less than the standard adult fare. Taxes, fees and other charges will remain the same.
This attractive reduction is available for children aged between 2 and 11 (on the date of departure) and is applicable on all economy and business class fares (except on our promotional fares) departing in the UK to all European destinations with the exception of Switzerland.
New Airbus A330-300
SWISS started to replace its current Airbus A330-200s with new and more fuel-efficient A330-300s earlier this year. Once all the new A330-300s are in service, SWISS is the only one in the world to offer First Class on all its long-haul aircraft.
The new Airbus A330-300 is already introduced on the routes Zurich - New York, Zurich - Dubai and Zurich - Bombay. The fourth and last route to be added for this year will be Zurich - Delhi on 13 October.
New First Class long-haul cabin
The new SWISS First seat is the new cabin’s centre piece: It reclines into a two-metre-long lie-flat bed and the softness of the pneumatic air cushion can be individually adjusted. The innovative guest seat enables the customer to dine or work with a companion. Further extras include a 23-inch in-flight entertainment screen and generous work surfaces and storage facilities.
New Business Class long-haul seat
With the new SWISS Business seat, you will soon be able to enjoy a unique form of sleeping comfort – exclusively aboard SWISS. The SWISS “bed above the clouds” lies completely flat, offers plenty of room to move, provides maximum privacy and individual sleeping comfort.
SWISS will begin offering Business Class customers this unique seat-or-lie experience from spring 2009.
