The Ferris wheel «London Eye» is for most tourists high on the to-do list. But there is a cheaper and much more romantic alternative: the Monument. The 61-meter high memorial pillar reminiscent of the great fire that devastated almost the whole of London in 1666. It was built in 1677 and has since been regarded as the highest free-standing stone column in the world. The «monument» has a viewing platform from where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the whole of London. But beware: the prospect has to be earned – the memorial column does not have a lift. For this, the entrance fee is only 3 pounds.

In London I recommend the Asian restaurant Benihana – an absolute insider tip for the city on the Thames. Some really top-class show cooking is done here! The food is fantastic and the chefs are very chatty. Eating here isn't cheap, but it really is worth it. As far as I'm concerned it's London's best restaurant. It's best to book a table in advance.

I can only recommend the three-storey «Anthropologie» store. It's a unique world of great fashions, accessories and home utensils. For me it's an absolute must whenever I visit London.

Wines and spirits – and a treat for the eyes! Gerry’s has probably the widest selection of spirits and liqueurs in the United Kingdom. However, the shop's attractions aren’t just the delightful staff and the wide selection; it also has visual appeal! Every single bottle bears a handwritten label with details of the origin and information on the contents. Thanks to the perfect location – right at the heart of pulsating Soho – customers will never have more than a few steps to walk to one of London’s famous pubs before or after shopping at Gerry’s Wine & Spirits.
