Data protection declaration

SWISS attaches a great deal of importance to protecting its customers' privacy. Below, we have set out the principles based on which we collect and process personal data (information that identifies you or allows us to identify you) via this website and other websites and applications operated by SWISS (hereinafter referred to as the "Website").

Collection of personal data

You can visit the Website and obtain information on our offers without revealing any personal data. We only request personal data where this is required in order for us to perform our own services or to process Transactions that you execute with SWISS or our partners. We collect and process your personal data carefully, only for the purposes described in this data protection declaration and only to the extent that is necessary for these purposes. We only store your personal data insofar and as long as is required for us to perform our services or to the extent that we are required to do so by law.

We also collect data to analyse the use of the Website in general, to gain insights into how to improve our offering and to focus our marketing measures on the identifiable needs of our customers. We also collect and process this data using cookies. You can find information on how cookies work and your options in this respect in our Cookie Policy.

Data processing for service provision

When you create a profile, you will be asked for contact information, in particular your surname, first name, date of birth, telephone number and e-mail address.

In order to process flights booked by you and operated by SWISS or our partners, we also require the following information: your preferred mode of payment, your address and your Miles & More membership number (if you have one and wish to use it).

For regulatory reasons, we also have to pass certain pieces of personal and booking data on to authorities in Switzerland and abroad to clarify security and immigration issues (e.g. Advanced Passenger Information data ("API data") which is sent to authorities in the US).

If you enter into Transactions directly with our partners or other third parties via the Website, an agreement is deemed to be established between you and the service provider in question. The service provider is entitled to process your personal data to process the Transaction and, where appropriate, other services performed directly by it. The data protection principles of the service provider in question apply. If you have any questions in this respect, please contact the contractual partner in question directly.

SWISS marketing measures

We keep you informed of relevant developments relating to SWISS and SWISS offers. We use what is known as a "double opt-in procedure" for the dispatch of our newsletter: if you order our newsletter on the Website, e.g. by clicking on a confirmation field, we will send you a notification e-mail. You can then confirm the order by activating a corresponding link. If you decide, at a later date, that you no longer wish to receive our newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time free of charge either in the newsletter itself or in your profile.

Data security

We protect your personal data by taking suitable security measures and using secure servers. We have taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the Website from loss, destruction or manipulation, as well as from access, modification or dissemination by unauthorized individuals. Particularly sensitive data (e.g. access data to your profile account) is encrypted (SSL) when it is sent via the Internet.

Amendments

We reserve the right to amend this Data Protection Declaration at any time. Amendments shall apply as soon as they are published on this Website.
