Montreux Jazz Festival The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the world's best known music festivals and one of the biggest events in the Swiss cultural calendar. Every July the festival on the banks of Lake Geneva attracts and thrills thousands upon thousands of visitors.
Having started out as a pure jazz festival, Montreux started to include other musical genres in the 1970s and now welcomes artists representing a huge range of musical styles and colours. Initiator and current organiser-in-chief Claude Nobs has succeeded in bringing an incredible diversity of musicians to Montreux for the Festival - long-established artists and newcomers alike. The list of artists who have already played at Montreux reads like a "Who's Who" of the music scene. Today the Festival runs for two weeks and attracts more than 200,000 visitors to Montreux.

Social causes
SOS Children's Village All the SOS Children's Villages associations are members of the umbrella organisation SOS Kinderdorf International, which is based in Innsbruck. SOS Children's Villages can now be found in 131 countries across five continents. About 50,000 children and young people live in 440 SOS Children's Villages around the world.
The children of today will shape the world of tomorrow. This was the principle on which the founder of SOS Kinderdorf, Hermann Gmeiner, based his life's work - and which we have adopted as our vision. SWISS gives passengers on its flights donation envelopes in which they can deposit small change in any currency. The proceeds go to the international aid organisation SOS Children's Villages. In 2008 SWISS passengers gave more than CHF 159,000 on board our airlines and in our airports. We donated this to finance a family house in the new SOS Children's Village in Thailand. SOS Kinderdorf and SWISS would like to thank all passengers for their generous donations. |
