Social responsibility in the Lufthansa group

Social responsibility

With over 7000 employees all over the world and connections to 72 destinations in 39 countries, SWISS generates an economic and social added value for society. By supporting a number of carefully chosen, high quality initiatives, we as a company are actively committed to society.

Social commitment

SWISS supports SOS Kinderdorf (SOS Children's Villages), the international charity for children in need. We distribute envelopes for donations on our aircraft to collect small change in all currencies. The resulting revenue is then passed on to SOS Children’s Villages. SWISS also supports SWISS Kinderstiftung, the independent employee foundation for children, with monetary donations, infrastructure and logistics. The foundation is an opportunity for SWISS employees to become involved (on a voluntary basis) for SOS Children’s Villages.

Education

SWISS passes its knowledge on to society. By offering a number of trainee and work experience positions, SWISS makes it easier for young people who are embarking on their careers. SWISS also trains more than 100 pilots a year, which helps to guarantee that international connections to Switzerland are maintained. SWISS also guest lectures and provides support for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and student project.

Neighbourhood

SWISS is one of the biggest employees in the region of Zurich airport, and is committed to airport associations. SWISS demonstrates its commitment to youngsters by sponsoring the Kloten Flyers Juniors. The company is also involved in a number of selected social activities.

Employees

SWISS’s success is based on the commitment of its more than 7000 employees in many different areas. SWISS works closely with its seven social partners to support employee issues.
