SWISS maintenance workers in Geneva go on strike - moderate impact on flight operations    

Bulletin 1, 24.02.2005, 09h00. This morning at 05:26 local time a small group of SWISS maintenance workers in Geneva announced they were taking strike action. They demanded talks with SWISS Executive Management about the company's restructuring plans. Human Resources head Antonio Schulthess is currently leading discussions with representatives of Geneva staff.

The work stoppage affected three Avro RJ100 flights out of Geneva during the morning peak. Replacement aircraft were available for two of the three flights. One flight had to be cancelled. Passengers whose travel was disrupted were rebooked. Flights out of Geneva are operating normally. Flight operations out of Basel and Zurich are not affected.

Further information will be released following the conclusion of the talks.

SWISS regrets this work stoppage and is doing its utmost to provide passengers with optimum service. Additional personnel have been deployed to support key customer contact points such as call centers, the Passenger Care Center and transfer desks.
