Why do I have to pay an additional tax at some airports?
How much time should I calculate for check-in?
What do I do if my pocketknife is taken from me at the security check?
National aviation authoriities are responsible for the regulations governing dangerous objects on board aircraft. Within Europe, a standardised procedure is in place, under which the passenger is required to surrender pocket knives, scissors and other sharp objects at the security check. Airport personnel are authorised to confiscate these items. For flights operated by Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., however, these objects are normally packed in a bag and transported separately, notably outside the cabin, and returned to their owner on arrival. Due to the tightening of existing regulations and the introductiof new ones, and the increase in passenger volume, the authorities at some airport are no longer able to apply this procedure for the items to be returned to passengers at the end of the flight. Airlines have no influence in this matter. We therefore advise you to pack items of this nature in your checked baggage.
