  • Safety protocols and handing in of objects
The civil aviation authorities of the different countries are responsible for regulating dangerous objects on board of planes. Within Europe, the procedure is consistent: pocket knives, scissors and other pointed objects are removed during the safety check. Usually, they are placed in a bag by SWISS, transported separately outside of the cabin and returned at arrival. Due to increased and additional safety measures and increasing volume, however, the relevant safety authorities in several airports are no longer able to perform this procedure and to return these objects to passengers after arrival. The airlines have no influence on this. We ask our passengers to include such objects only in the luggage they check in.
