Few cities in the world have to cope with more cliches and preconceived notions than Amsterdam. Even if some of the prevailing ideas happen to be true: this city exudes pure openness, which it presents to visitors almost like an open book.
But aside from the common cliches, Amsterdam offers more than an idyllic, romantic setting of canals and tulips. It is the domain of pedestrians and cyclists, whose presence is quintessential to the identity of this energetic city.
