More and more airports are enforcing their hand baggage rules. SWISS also endeavours to avoid problems due to excessive hand baggage. The objective is your personal safety and comfort on board.

Please note the new security regulations for hand baggage.
Please note our rules on hand baggage and save yourselves the risk of having to repack your baggage at the check-in counter. Baggage that does not comply with the rules must be checked in. The rules depend on your booking class.

The hand baggage must not contain any dangerous objects and has to be stowed away under the seat in front of you or in the baggage compartment.
In exceptional cases, we ask our passengers to check in their hand baggage. This is primarily the case on flights served by smaller aircraft. Passengers travelling in SWISS Economy Class are allowed 1 piece of hand baggage.
In addition to the hand baggage, the following items are allowed on board if necessary (except infants)
Travelling with an infant - the following items are allowed on board
- 1 baby carrier or 1 collapsible pram (in the freight compartment) or 1 car seat
- baby food for use on board
For passengers with restricted mobility
- 1 collapsible wheelchair (in the freight compartment)
- 1 pair of crutches and/or splint for arm or leg or any kind of prostheses
- medical equipment (e.g. dialysis equipment in the amount required for the journey) you depend on
Stowage on board
Hand baggage must be stowed away on board. The first piece of baggage must be placed under the seat before you (if possible), the second one in the baggage compartment.
