FLYING WITH CHILDREN  DISCOVERIES FOR KIDS

In the age of high-tech aviation, infants, toddlers and children will reach their destination safely. If you are well prepared, you will all enjoy your flight as an interesting adventure.

SWISS has no minimum age for flights. Only infants under seven days of age need a medical certificate that they are fit to travel.

Conditions
Up to the 2nd birthday, infants usually pay 10% of the applicable and available air fare, in addition to fuel surcharges, airport fees and overheads. This includes booking, ticketing and handling fees. However, they are not entitled to a seat of their own - infants sit in their parents' lap.

On long-haul flights and Business Class flights within Europe, SWISS will provide you with a special travel cot on request. This is a limited offer, and for safety reasons is only available for children up to the age of eight months and a maximum weight of 11 kg. Please ask our reservation service for details.

Swiss service fee: For bookings made in Switzerland for children between 2 and 11 years of age, we charge 50% of the service fee on tickets with a child discount. Fares without specific child discount are subject to the normal Swiss service fee. The service fee is lower for online bookings. The service fee is not applicable for infants between 0 and 2 years of age.

Baby seat / car seat for infants
Book a child’s fare for your infant between 0 and 2 years of age. Place your car seat on the booked seat - ensure comfort for your child and for yourself.

Folding buggy/pushchair
Please ask at check-in whether your folding buggy (folds down to about the size of an umbrella) can be taken up to the aircraft. Depending on your destination, you will receive your buggy either when you leave the aircraft or when you get to baggage collection.
There is no charge for the transportation of folding buggies and pushchairs.

Travel preparations
Depending on your destination, we recommend that you consult your paediatrician for information about required vaccinations or prophylaxis. Take your child’s sleeping rhythm into account when choosing the time of your flight. Your hand baggage should include important items for your child’s comfort and pleasure: a soft toy, socks, nappies, wet wipes, a change of clothes, a bottle and
pacifier, a small toy, a colouring book, necessary medication etc. Please allow enough time for your trip to the airport and for checking in.
