MEDICAL CERTIFICATES  ON THE SAFE SIDE

In the following cases, SWISS recommends that travellers take along and present a medical certificate for their own safety or due to valid security regulations
  • Cardiac pacemakers or implanted metal parts (artificial joints, metal fixtures for fractures) - before passing the security check.
  • Diabetics and persons with chronic diseases requiring medication (certificate stating the diagnosis and required medication).
  • Destination countries requiring certain vaccinations (inoculation and vaccination record).
  • Syringes carried for medical reasons.

Depending on the degree of impairment, SWISS may require an INCAD form. This form, issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), contains the data necessary for the organisation of the journey and information from the treating physician that may be relevant for SWISS.

In addition to the INCAD form, travelers intending to use a POC (portable oxygen concentrator) with battery power on board are kindly asked to fill in the POC form.

Please request the form when making your reservation and send it at least 3 working days before your departure to the SWISS Medical Services (fax number +41 58 584 68 45)

An INCAD certificate is required
  • In case of an acute illness or accident
  • After surgery
  • If a stretcher or oxygen is required
  • For passengers requiring the help of a companion due to his/her health condition. Our flight attendants do not take over any nursing duties.

Frequent flyers with chronic, stable illness or handicap
Please obtain a so-called FREMEC. This will save you the effort of obtaining a new INCAD for every trip. For more information on INCAD and FREMEC, please contact our medical services: medicalservices@swiss.com.
