SWISS aircraft makes emergency landing in Frankfurt   

A SWISS aircraft en route from Amsterdam to Zurich was forced to make an emergency landing in Frankfurt today when two of its engines failed. The four-engine Avro RJ100 HB-IXU operating as flight LX 725 was carrying 51 passengers and five crewmembers. The aircraft landed at Frankfurt without any difficulty at 11:20 and the passengers were able to leave the aircraft in the normal way. In accordance with regulations, civil aviation authorities have been informed. A technical investigation is now under way. The passengers were attended to by staff of Swissport, SWISS’s handling company, and rebooked on other flights for the rest of their journey.
