  • Baggage in the cabin: Can I take my musical instrument with me as hand luggage?

If your musical instrument does not exceed the dimensions or weight of a normal item of hand baggage, you can take it with you as hand baggage without prior notification. Please remember that only 1 item of hand baggage is permitted per passenger.

An additional seat must be booked for musical instruments that exceed the dimensions or weight for hand baggage. Please note:

    • The special reservation of an extra seat is not possible online. Book the additional seat together with your own ticket with your travel agent or a SWISS point of sale.
    • Be aware that the transport in the cabin is depending on the dimensions of the seats and on the respective aircraft type. If your musical instrument is exceeding these dimensions, the transport in the cabin is not permitted and the musical instrument must be checked in. You will receive further details from your travel agent or SWISS point of sale.
    • The price for the additional seat will be the currently valid ticket price.
    • On long-haul flights, this service is only available to Economy passengers.
    • This service is not available on codeshare flights.
  • Electronic devices: May I use electronic devices during the flight?
Electronic devices may not be used during start, landing and taxiing when the fasten seat-belt signs are switched on.

Laptops, MP3 or CD players may be used during the flight. However, mobile telephones, radios and TV receivers, radio equipment and cordless computer mice may not be used during the flight.
