From a technical report to a maintenance work order

The Maintenance Control Center (MCC) is where technical reports from across the SWISS fleet come together. MCC controllers monitor the condition of the aircraft around the clock on their screens. They assess incoming reports and create the necessary maintenance work orders.

Next, the Dispatch team takes over and coordinates the technical activities: They check which aircraft engineers is available and has the required qualifications to perform the task. Then, they plan the assignment so the work can be integrated as efficiently as possible into the ongoing flight operations.

Line Maintenance employees carry out inspections, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance work directly on the aircraft to ensure it can safely return to service on time.

Once the job has been planned, the aircraft engineer from Line Maintenance at Zurich Airport takes over. The work order is sent to the engineer digitally via their tablet. They confirm the assignment and begin the repair. At the same time, Logistics ensures that the required replacement part is available. If the coffee maker is in stock, it is prepared and delivered directly to the aircraft. The aircraft engineer replaces the coffee maker, documents the work digitally, and releases the aircraft for its next flight. All teams involved immediately receive an update on their devices confirming that the work has been completed.
