SWISS serves specialities from the Bernese Oberland aloft


SWISS will be offering its long-haul First and Business Class travellers culinary delights from Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland in the winter season. The carrier has commissioned Jan Leimbach of the Lenkerhof Alpine Resort to create a number of exclusive inflight meals, which will be served aloft for the next three months as the latest instalment in its award-winning “SWISS Taste of Switzerland” programme.

From the beginning of December until the end of next February, SWISS will be serving special meals from the Lenk/Simmental region of Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland to First and Business Class customers on its long-haul services from Switzerland and on longer European flights. Thanks to SWISS’s team-up with the five-star-superior Lenkerhof Alpine Resort and its chef de cuisine Jan Leimbach, the travellers concerned will enjoy a range of balanced and varied inflight meals: with his “well-flavour” cuisine, this 17-GaultMillau-point chef puts a special accent on blending international delicacies with top local produce.

SWISS Business travellers will thus be treated to such inflight delights as fillet of beef with cocoa nibs or cod wrapped in parma ham with tomato coulis, while SWISS First guests can look forward to delicacies such as lobster salpicon with citrus jelly or fillet of veal with braised veal cheek. All the meals will be accompanied by further culinary highlights that include local Bernese cheeses and regional wines such as a Chasselas Cuvée and a Charles Steiner Selection Blanc.
