SWISS Connoisseur Experience

SWISS launches new gourmet concept for First Class guests

The “SWISS Connoisseur Experience” will offer First Class customers on long-haul flights from Switzerland carefully selected food specialities that are geared to the season and will focus on a particular gourmet delight. The new feature will be offered four times a year for a two-week period, and will supplement the existing award-winning “SWISS Taste of Switzerland” inflight food concept to provide even more culinary variety for First Class guests. The first SWISS Connoisseur Experience will be on offer from 2 September.

The new concept kicks off with a “SWISS Steakhouse” feature with special meat and salad choices, which will be offered from 2 to 15 September. The starters here will include a Caesar salad with croutons, Parmesan and anchovies or an iceberg salad with blue cheese, tomatoes and chives, all served fresh at the table. For their main course, guests will be able to choose between Australian Wagyu beef, an Irish Angus fillet, or corn-fed chicken breast, served together with such steakhouse classics as potato gratin, baked potatoes, spinach or grilled corn. An original American cheesecake will round off the SWISS Steakhouse meal.

The next SWISS Connoisseur Experience, in November, will celebrate the truffle season with a particular focus on white Alba truffles. Here, too, the emphasis will be on the finest and freshest ingredients, with the cabin staff grating truffles at the customer’s seat onto their truffle carpaccio, truffle soup or truffle pasta meal.

In February of next year, SWISS will be offering its First Class guests selected seafood specialities. The choice here is set to include lobster, crayfish and Coquilles St-Jacques. And this will be followed in May by an exclusive caviar tasting programme offering various types of caviar including Sevruga, Prunier and Switzerland’s own Oona caviar from the Tropenhaus Frutigen.

Kloten’s ice hockey stadium is now the “SWISS Arena”

The town of Kloten’s ice hockey stadium, home of the Kloten Flyers, now bears its new “SWISS Arena” name. The illuminated name signs – up to 17 metres long – were affixed last week to the building’s north/east and south entrances, as well as at the front. The name change follows a corresponding agreement that was concluded this February between Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), the EHC Kloten ice hockey club and the town of Kloten, which owns the venue, granting SWISS the stadium’s naming rights for the next six years. The new “SWISS Arena” name was formally adopted on 1 May.

The team benches, the safety mesh and the Kloten Flyers website, tickets and programmes will all bear the new SWISS Arena logo for the start of the Swiss 2015/16 ice hockey season. The signage both in and outside the stadium will also be changed to reflect the new name by the time the season begins. And to cap off the new SWISS Arena era (and in keeping with the “Kloten Flyers” theme), the stadium’s façade will be adorned with giant pictures of all the types of aircraft in the SWISS fleet by the beginning of next year.

A new pre-match show involving SWISS crews and the Kloten Flyers team has also been devised for the new ice hockey season. And during the intervals a new “Fly SWISS Cam” will entertain the spectators, who will also have the chance to win SWISS flight vouchers.

SWISS has been supporting the Kloten Flyers youth teams for several years now. The company also sponsors various other clubs and associations in local communities. And the new SWISS Arena is a further confirmation of its commitment to the airport region.

Exclusively for subscribers to our CorporateNewsletter, we are giving away 1x2 tickets for the Kloten Flyers' opening game of the season against Biel. The game will take place on 11 September 2015 at the SWISS Arena. To enter the contest, simply send an e-mail to with the subject “SWISS Arena”. Good luck!
