Start of Advance seat reservation (ASR) as of 08 July 2014
Under its new “SWISS Choice” concept, SWISS offers its SWISS Economy customers products and services which they can purchase in addition to their ticket to tailor their air travel even more closely to their individual wishes and needs. All these further options can be booked to supplement the familiar high-quality basic SWISS air travel product.
In a first step, all customers will be able to reserve their preferred seat in advance and order on-board “surprises” such as champagne or chocolate cake for those special occasions. Further offers will also be added to the new “SWISS Choice” range of extra products and services in the course of 2014.
The introduction of ASR enables all customers to pre-book a seat in economy class on domestic, continental and intercontinental flights, up to 11 months before their departure date. ASR will be available as of 08 July 2014, for travel effective 15 July 2014. As hitherto, it will still be possible to reserve a seat at no charge from 23 hours to 1 hour before departure.
ASR requires various technical updates on the part of SWISS and the GDS systems. SWISS and its internal systems provider are still working closely together with the GDS systems to connect all systems with regard to EMD-A and the corresponding advance seat reservation service. ASR will be available in Amadeus as of 25 August 2014, other GDS will follow step-by-step. During this transition period, SWISS offers an ASR booking & rebooking alternative for travel agencies via SWISS Service Center.

New EU Pricing Concept
SWISS is introducing a new attractive EU Pricing Concept effective 25 June 2014. The highlights of this new fare structure are:
- Low entry fare levels with small upsell steps
- Attractive same-day return fares (with e.g. reduction of Minimum-Stay)
- Highly attractive Business Class fares with entry levels ranging from CHF 299-399
- Introduction of one-way fares to selected destinations in all RBD’s, with entry level between CHF 89 and CHF 149
The new concept applies to the following 17 destinations served directly from Zurich as well as from Basel and Lugano via Zurich. Therefore the fares from Basel and Lugano are no longer common-rated with the fares from Zurich.
