Our culture

What we stand for

‘Truly SWISS... where people matter’ - Our strength lies in the special service provided by people, for people, which turns a flight into a true travel experience – across the globe.

In the process, we thrive on making decisions and rely on trust; we support mutual appreciation and comprehensive collaboration; we count on credibility and on a passion for excellent performance. That is what makes us unique over the long term and inspires our employees and customers alike. Very much in line with our guiding principle: ‘Being SWISS means going the extra mile. Always.’

The SWISS company culture is the basis for the way we think and act. It determines how we work with each other and what we value, how we approach challenges and how we brace ourselves for the future. It plays a decisive role in turning normal collaboration into teamwork, duty into reliability, employer into motivator and service into extraordinary service – thanks to our passion for our customers and for flying.

We actively assess our company culture in order to maintain long-term success as a company. That is why we have answered the following questions together with our employees: How can we become even better in the future? Which aspects of our culture are especially important and should therefore be further developed? With the help of a team consisting of members of various job groups, we have carved out the core of the typical SWISS culture. It is the collective desire to continuously improve while being creative and open to new ideas in the process. We take on responsibility and tackle challenges – that is what makes us who we are and affords us every opportunity for an even stronger SWISS. As part of a global company with an even greater chance of success for all.

  • Trisha Baumeler, Intern in HR

‘At SWISS, I have been given greater responsibility, contribute my ideas and work on challenging projects – all sooner than I would have thought. I think it’s great that I’m given the opportunity to prove that I am up to more-challenging tasks. And I can always rely on the support of my colleagues.’

  • Caroline Zünd, Captain A320

‘What I really appreciate about working in a SWISS cockpit is the openness and honesty. Constructive feedback is a matter of course for us and is practised daily. That’s how we can improve as a crew and offer our passengers a safe and comfortable travel experience – each and every day.’

  • Jörg Berlinger, Maître de cabine

‘I am proud to tell my friends and colleagues that I work for SWISS. My tasks simply incorporate a wide range of skills. It is a lot of fun for me to lead a team, to take on responsibility, to keep getting better at things and to satisfy our customers in every way – even sometimes with unconventional ideas.’

  • Astrid Schönenberger, Kaizen Promotion Officer Cargo

‘I work in a challenging market environment. That drives me to improve and optimise workflows, processes and interfaces. That’s why I often take the initiative, collect ideas and get proactive. My supervisors and colleagues support me in this.’

  • Thomas Lüscher, Head of technical division development

‘As a manager, I encourage the employees to think unconventionally, to collect new ideas and, where possible, to implement them on their own initiative. It enhances the feeling of responsibility and the motivation of the employees, which leads to better results.‘
