SWISS is further expanding its involvement with sports at the Swiss national level: the company has become the official airline and partner of the Swiss Olympic and Swiss Paralympic teams. One particular highlight of the new partnership will be next year’s Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, for which SWISS will be offering special flights.

Under the new partnership agreement, which comes into immediate effect, SWISS will support the Swiss Olympic and Swiss Paralympic teams in their air travel to and from major sporting events abroad, including the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games in Brazil.

For next year’s Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro SWISS will operate two special flights, one before and one after the event. On 1 August the airline will fly part of the Swiss Olympic team non-stop from Zurich to Rio on one of its new Boeing 777-300ERs, the sixth to be delivered. And the day after the Games’ closing ceremony, on 22 August, SWISS will transport the Swiss competitors and the country’s official Olympic delegation from Rio back to Switzerland.
