SWISS Magazine, Swiss International Air Lines’ inflight journal, has won the World Airline Entertainment Association’s bronze Avion Award in the Best Inflight Magazine category – the second major international distinction garnered by this still-young publication. The award was presented in Seattle, USA, last Friday, September 12, in the course of the WAEA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition.SWISS has also earned honours for its new Airbus A340 image film, which won first prize in the Countries, Regions & Cities category at the International Tourism Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
SWISS Magazine is produced by SWISS’s own four-member editorial team headed by Regina Maréchal-Wipf, while its layout is entrusted to Raffinerie AG für Gestaltung and its young graphic design team. The monthly magazine has a readership of around a million SWISS passengers and a mailing list of some 4 500 subscribers who receive their copies by post.
2003 marks the 15th year in which the World Airline Entertainment Association has bestowed its Avion Awards on airlines which display outstanding quality and innovation in their inflight entertainment product. The awards are made for audio, video and printed productions. SWISS won third place in the Best Inflight Category in this year’s awards for its SWISS Magazine publication.
The Avion Award is the second international distinction earned by SWISS Magazine in its still-young life: the publication was named Best German-Language Customer Magazine in the Tourism & Lifestyle category at April’s BCP Best of Corporate Publishing 2003 awards
Just finished, already distinguished
The new SWISS image film for its new Airbus A340 was shot in mid-July and completed in mid-August and won its first award just two weeks later. The film was named Best Film in the Countries, Regions & Cities category at the International Tourism Film Festival in the Czech Republic, in a competition involving over 150 films. The award will be presented in Karlovy Vary on September 25.
