Swiss International Air Lines has been named 2010 Airline of the Year in the short-haul category by more than 1 400 readers of Switzerland’s ReiseBlick travel magazine. The airline prevailed over 51 competitors to earn the prestigious distinction. “We are particularly delighted to win this award because it has been bestowed directly by our customers,” said SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Holger Hätty when he accepted the distinction yesterday.
The annual ReiseBlick poll is aimed at all the magazine’s readers who have travelled by air within the past year. The survey criteria include quality and customer satisfaction both at check-in and on board, and the traveller’s sense of safety and security both before and during the flight. The criteria also extend to the friendliness of the personnel, the inflight entertainment offered, legroom, punctuality and general value-for-money.
SWISS was last named ReiseBlick Airline of the Year in the short-haul category for 2007, and came second for the next two years. The magazine’s survey extends to medium- and long-haul services, too. In the 2010 medium-haul category, SWISS earned a further second place, just behind Edelweiss Air.
This latest distinction follows the Business Traveller Awards which SWISS collected last month as Best Airline for Europe and Best Airline for North & South America, and its recent Global Traveler Award for the best first-class seat.
