C Series successfully launched
Swiss International Air Lines – the first airline in the world to operate the new Bombardier CS100 – launched a scheduled service between Zurich and Paris with this aircraft in mid-July. The thirty C Series planes that Swiss have ordered will gradually be replacing the Avro fleet up until Juli 2017, and will be used for short and medium-haul flights.
Thanks to an innovative cabin design, passengers can enjoy significant improvements in travel comfort. Large windows positioned close together allow more daylight into the cabin and the new seat design offers maximum comfort and increased leg room, despite seat spacing remaining the same. Passengers will perceive the new aircraft as roughly half as loud and fuel consumption is up to 25% lower, compared to the Avro fleet.
Besides Paris-Charles de Gaulle, SWISS will initially be serving the cities of Manchester, Prague and Budapest with the CS 100. At the end of August, flights to and from the European capitals of Warsaw and Brussels will also be launched. Nice, Stuttgart, Hanover, Milan, Florence and Bucharest will be added in September. Each time a new CS100 enters the fleet, one more destination will be served by the C Series and the Avro flights discontinued. (Subject to change without notice)

More frequent flights to Kenya
The Kenyan capital in Eastern Africa is a fascinating city of extremes. Nairobi is a modern city and home to many international banks, companies and organisations. However, located just a few kilometres away from the dynamic city centre and its towering sky-scrapers, the Nairobi National Park is a fascinating animal kingdom spread over 120km2.
From 1/9/16, Lufthansa will operate an Airbus A340-300 from Frankfurt to Nairobi 4 times a week. Passengers from Switzerland can take a connecting flight from Basel, Berne (codeshare bmi regional), Geneva or Zurich, and – after a short stopover in Frankfurt – continue their flight to Kenya.
The Lufthansa flight connections at a glance:
LH 590 depart Frankfurt 11.10 a.m. | arrive Nairobi 8.20 p.m. Tues., Thurs., Sat., Sun.
LH 591 depart Nairobi 11.35 p.m. | arrive Frankfurt 6.00 a.m.+1 Tues., Thurs., Sat., Sun.
Austrian Airlines' network to China
From 5th September 2016, the Austrian airline will be flying with a Boeing 777 to Hong Kong up to four times a week. With Hong Kong now joining Shanghai and Beijing, Austrian Airlines now has China's three largest cities covered.
There are excellent connections from Switzerland, with flights departing from Geneva, Zurich and Basel (outbound only). Vienna Airport is an ideal transfer airport with an MCT of only 25 minutes. The short distances between gates are now made very easy and efficient thanks to the new 3-storey philosophy.
More USA flights from Tokyo Haneda
ANA is further reinforcing its hub at Haneda Airport, on the outskirts of Tokyo, by introducing two new USA routes. From 30th October 2016, the market leader will include flights from New York and Chicago into Haneda, resulting in a significantly better-served airport.
Both USA flights leave Tokyo Haneda Airport between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Outbound flights from the USA touch down in Tokyo around 9 p.m. – which means maximum flexibility for leisure and business travellers, providing passengers with more time in the USA.
To accommodate passengers between Tokyo Haneda and Honolulu, the flight times on this route will also be adjusted. Passengers will continue to depart for Honolulu at night, with the return flight arriving in Tokyo between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., thus facilitating onward travel.
ANA will also be introducing a flight between Tokyo Haneda and Kuala Lumpur. The new flight serving the Malaysian capital will be offered as an overnight flight, as an alternative to the existing connection between Tokyo Narita and Kuala Lumpur. This will give ANA passengers the choice between a daytime flight from Tokyo Narita or an overnight flight from Tokyo Haneda.

Flights to Havana from autumn 2016
Starting this autumn, United Airlines is giving its customers the chance to write a little piece of history as it opens up its first flights from the USA to Havana, Cuba, after a break of more than half a century. The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has just granted temporary authorisation for direct flights from the global hubs of New York and Newark to the Cuban capital. This allows the airline to offer the best and most convenient choice of flights towards Cuba departing from two different geographic regions in the USA.
United will be introducing daily flights from Newark Liberty International Airport this autumn. For more than 20 years, United has been the airline that has served the widest range of destinations from this airport. The New York City/Newark region – the most densely populated area in the United States – is home to the second largest Cuban-American population.
Houston Bush International Airport is one of the most transfer-friendly airports and is also United's hub for flights to Latin America. United offers 91 direct flights per day from here, serving 52 destinations in Central and Southern America, as well as the Caribbean. Bush International will play an important role in air traffic to Cuba because it connects 20 important regions in Western and Central USA to Cuba with only one stop. The population in the greater area of Houston is one of the ten largest communities of Cuban origin.
United’s global route network offers convenient connections from almost all American cities and the airline can also lay claim to the majority of routes to the Caribbean – currently operating 231 flights a week to 19 Caribbean islands.
