  1. How much does a ticket cost for my baby or small child?

As a general rule, you will pay 10% of the regular fare for your baby until his/her second birthday and additional charges. We do not charge a service fee.

  2. My child is going to turn 2 while we are travelling. What do I need to bear in mind?

If your child turns 2 while you are travelling, you will have to book a separate seat for him or her from this point on. The children’s fare will then generally apply.

  3. Can I take my own child seat on board?

If you have booked a separate seat for your child, you can take your child seat (car seat) on board with you. The seat must be certified for air travel, and its base dimensions must not exceed 40 x 40 cm.

  4. Can I take my buggy on board with me?

You can take your folding pushchair/buggy to the aircraft with you. Depending on your destination, your buggy will be returned to you when you disembark or on the baggage carousel. Because of their size, pushchairs for two or more children must be checked in as baggage.

  5. Can my child fly alone?

Children under 5 years of age may not fly unaccompanied. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 may only travel unaccompanied if you book our service for unaccompanied minors (UM service) or if accompanied by someone who is at least 12 years of age. If desired, the service may also be booked for children aged between 12 and 17.

  6. How do I book a flight for a child travelling alone (UM)?

The UM service for children travelling alone is only available through our Service Center. Book the ticket and the UM service by phone. For further information please go to Unaccompanied minors.

  7. What do I need to bear in mind when travelling with children?

For information on this topic please go to flying with children.

  8. Can I carry liquid baby food in my hand baggage?

Liquid baby food may be carried on SWISS flights. We offer special baby food (fruit and vegetable purees) on intercontinental flights. Baby meals can be ordered up to 48 hours before departure either when you book or via the Service Center.

  9. I am going to be travelling alone with two babies; what do I have to do when booking?

As a general rule, only one baby (to 2 years of age) can be booked per adult. One adult may travel with two babies under the following circumstances:

    a) If one of the babies is travelling in a car seat that is approved for air travel.
    b) If a seat (children's fare) has been booked for the second baby.
