Light Art on the Alster

A unique moment in Hamburg

A Europe-wide campaign for greater consideration in our dealings with one another.

On 11 December 2014, Hamburg became a part of the greater interpersonal attentiveness movement initiated by SWISS. Light artist Gerry Hofstetter has already turned countless monuments throughout the world into works of art with light, and now the famous façade of the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, right on the Inner Alster Lake in Hamburg, was being lit by the eyes of SWISS cabin crews. The production was visible from afar, and invited people from the banks of the Alster and beyond to pause for a moment and remember the importance of attentiveness.

Set against the panorama of the Alster lake and the pre-Christmas lights of the town, Hofstetter's light production for SWISS was a breathtaking experience. All the eyes in the vicinity were turned towards the spectacular art projection, and visitors to the nearby Christmas markets also came closer, to look at the work of light art.

SWISS created the first symbol of greater interpersonal attentiveness in London, on 26 November 2014 – the most beautiful impressions of London can be seen here. Vienna, Paris, Barcelona and Milan are other stops along the way.
