  1. How much will it cost to carry my pet?

    The cost of transporting your pet depends on your destination and the size of the animal. If a pet is to be carried on a flight, it must be notified to the Service Center as early as possible.

  2. Can my pet travel in the cabin with me?

    Dogs and cats may be carried in the cabin, if the nececary prerequisites are fullfilled. For the transport of other species, please contact our Service Center.

  3. When will my pet be transported in the hold?

    Travelling in a suitable pet carrier, your pet will travel safely in the aircraft hold.

    Prerequisites for transportation in the cargo hold:
    a) Clean, healthy, not dangerous and no odour
    b) Not pregnant
    c) Is travelling in a suitable container or pet carrier (Pet Pack) with enough food and water for the duration of the trip
    d) We advise you to be at the check-in counter 1 hour before the last check-in time.

    The following countries do not allow animals to be transported either in the cabin or checked in as baggage: Ireland, Great Britain, Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. Animals travelling to these countries may only be checked in as freight. Animals may not be transported to India.

  4. Can my pet be transported as cargo without being accompanied?

    Your pet can also be transported as cargo without you accompanying it. Some countries actually require animals to be carried in the cargo hold.
    The safety and comfort of your pet is always SWISS's top priority, however it travels. Your pet will either travel on the same aircraft as you, or on a different one.   5. What do I need to bear in mind if I am bringing my pet into Switzerland?

    If you fly directly into Switzerland, you will be checked by Customs at the airport. If you are coming from a non-EU country, there will be a charge of CHF 88. If the animal does not meet the entry requirements, it will be confiscated by the Border Veterinary Service, and must be returned immediately to the country of origin. This will be at the expense of the person who brought the animal into the country. If it is not possible to return the animal within 10 days, it will have to be put down.   6. What is the best way to transport my animal? Are there any pet carriers that are required by law?

    IATA, the international aviation authority, has defined various guidelines for the well-being of your pet. For your pet's sake, SWISS adheres strictly to the definitions for conditions, appearance and minimum sizes. You must attach the IATA "Live Animals" label to your container.
