Nobody knows the SWISS destinations better than our staff. A restaurant that is not listed in every travel guide, an original bar, a charming café, or great tours with spectacular lookout points. Let our travel professionals inspire you with their tips.

I can recommend going on the city tour aboard the red double-decker bus. It may not be cheap, but passengers get a live commentary of the tour by real citizens of Hamburg – which can sometimes lead to impromptu sing-songs. Very entertaining!

The Südhang has long been one of my favourite places in Hamburg. Every day from 6 p.m., you can try a new wine, select a delicacy from the creative daily menu, or – in line with the old adage that you should «Never change a winning team», order the classic goat’s cheese salad for the umpteenth time. In the middle of the Schanze, the Südhang is also a good place from where to embark on Hamburg’s nightlife.

Henssler at home is the delivery branch of the bigger and fancier Henssler & Henssler restaurant, only situated 200 meters further towards Övelgönne Harbour Museum. They have also some tables there and the atmosphere is much more relaxed. The sushi quality is as good as the one of the “big brother” – I loved the The Tuna Sashimi Teriyaki and the Surf & Turf Rolls. Originally we only wanted to take a snack – but in the end we ordered half of the menu.

Whenever I go to Hamburg, I have to go to the elbgold for my coffee. Annika and Thomas have built up a veritable coffee oasis in the middle of the Schanze. It’s not terribly easy for people who are new to Hamburg to find; the best thing is to follow your nose. The perfect breakfast: milky coffee and a fresh bagel with homemade cream cheese. After that, you know the day is going to be a good one. The second café is near the Alster on the Mühlenkamp, not far from the pretty Winterhude area.
