Naples is known as the city of «O sole mio». As an alternative, I can recommend two places in the cool shade. A team of international archaeologists recently found proof that Prince Vlad III, better known as Dracula, met his death in Naples. His supposed grave can be found inside the Santa Maria La Nova monastery on the Piazza Santa Maria La Nova in the city's historic quarter. The entrance to the Bourbon Tunnel is also within walking distance, in the Via Gennaro Serra. It is an amazing architectural construction that gives visitors the chance to discover the underground world of Naples. There's a choice of a regular guided tour or the 'adventure tour' for a thrilling experience. This tour takes visitors along secret passageways and water channels.

I recommend the Ristorante Il Riccio in Anacapri on the island of Capri. Right next to the famous Grotta Azzura, this is a wonderful place to enjoy fresh fish. The view across Naples, Mount Vesuvius and the neighbouring island of Ischia is quite simply breathtaking. The restaurant owner certainly knows how to make you feel at home here. And the local dessert "Caprese al limoncello" is simply out of this world.

The Via Toledo is a true shoppers' paradise, seven days a week. This street is home to typical Italian boutiques as well as big fashion chains.

Spiaggia Maronti is a must-see. One of the many family restaurants at the beautiful beach on Ischia – pure Italianità. Fumarole: hot sand on the beach. Thanks to the thermal springs, the season lasts to the end of October here. This means that beach restaurants do not close at the end of September like in many places in Italy. San Angelo, at the end of Maronti beach, is also worth a visit: it's a picturesque, pedestrianised fishing village. In fact, Angela Merkel is known to holiday here.

This lifestyle hotel is situated on the top floor of an old townhouse, 2 minutes from the shopping street of Via Toledo. The harbour and the Alibus terminus/airport departure can be reached on foot in 10 minutes. The rooms are beautifully designed. The stylish roof terrace has views of the harbour and Vesuvius and is ideal for evening aperitifs and breakfast. There is also a lounge and a whirlpool on the roof terrace.
