    • Antico Ristoro di Cambi

      Dine like the locals
Very pleasant trattoria and terrace in the less touristy suburb of San Frediano. Best to do what the many locals do, and order a classic «bistecca fioretina» with white beans in olive oil. However, the starters and pasta dishes are also very good.

      Restaurant with regional cuisine
Extremely popular little establishment with white tiled walls and tables that are shared with other diners. Regional classics are produced in the tiny open kitchen. The bestsellers include the little artichoke tarts and butter-fried chicken fillets, as well as the «bistecca alla Fiorentina». Served with open wines and at fair prices.

    • Ristorante & Wine Bar dei Frescobaldi

      Restaurant and bar
An elegant, cosy establishment with a small terrace, just off the Piazza della Signoria. The traditional Tuscan meat and fishes classics are served here with just a few refinements, accompanied by wines from all over the world and, of course, the excellent wines from the Frescobaldi vineyards. Very pleasant, professional service.

    • Ora d‘Aria

      Top restaurant
This small, modern restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2011. Head chef Marco Stabile prepares his versions of Tuscan dishes such as tagliatelli with «finocchiona» ragout and braised leeks or grilled steak with potato puree, behind a glass window. A tapas menu is served at lunchtime. The ambience of the restaurant is simple but elegant and, like the menu and wine list, has its very own tone.

    • Trattoria Sabatino

      Family trattoria
This family-run trattoria has been in existence since 1956, and is becoming more and more popular. No wonder: the prices are good, and all the dishes taste wonderful. Guests sit at long wooden tables to dine on fried chicken or roast beef, which taste best served with the delicious fried potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

    • Caffè Giacosa

      Designer bistro
This used to be an «old ladies’ café» with lace tablecloths, but then designer Roberto Cavalli bought it, and opened his shop with his typical animal print touch. Now it’s a smart meeting place for any time of day. Nowhere else will you see quite so many elegant Florentines in one place – see and be seen is the motto.

    • Caffè Gucci

      At any time of day
If you’re in Florence and want something to eat at 3pm or on a Sunday, you could have a problem: many of its restaurants are closed. But not the chic café in the new Gucci Museo. Healthy, light, ecologically based dishes are served here at any time of day. The bestsellers include the Mediterranean fish soup and pasta with porcini. And of course, you can combine your visit to the café with one to the museum.

    • Sky-Bar

      Over the rooftops of Florence
The coolest place for an aperitif is the roof terrace of the Hotel Continentale, just beside the Ponte Vecchio. You can chill in the relaxed atmosphere: white cushions on the sofas and stools, relaxed music, and fabulous views of the Arno and the hills above the river. Tasty snacks are served with the aperitifs, and the bar is also open during the day.

    • Central Park

      Disco with tradition
It’s almost surprising for a disco to have been popular for so many years – but not the «Central Park». Situated close to the Parco delle Cascine, it is the oldest disco in Florence. There are three storeys and five dance floors for your entertainment, and live concerts also take place. The outdoor area is particularly inviting.

    • Tenax

      Legendary club

    • Cabiria

      The best terrace
This rather unassuming bar – albeit with the best terrace on the Piazza Santo Spirito – comes alive in the early evening. Platters of ham, cheese, grilled vegetables and tomato bread are placed on the bar, and anyone who orders a drink is welcome to help themselves. If you can’t find a chair, then just sit on the steps outside the church.

    • Pitti Gola e Cantina

      A Brunello for a snack
It would be reasonable to assume that the pretty wine bar and terrace opposite the Palazzo Pitti is a tourist trap. However, this is not the case. Manuele, Edoardo and Zeno – the three very nice owners – offer professional advice, and their excellent wines and Champagnes are also available by the glass. If you are hungry, you can order a helping of ravioli with aubergine and goat’s cheese stuffing to go with the Brunello di Montalcino.
