Nobody knows the SWISS destinations better than our staff. A restaurant that is not listed in every travel guide, an original bar, a charming café, or great tours with spectacular lookout points. Let our travel professionals inspire you with their tips.

My absolute favourite place in Lisbon is the Miradouro Senhora do Monte. It is the highest vantage point in the city and offers the most beautiful 360° panorama with breathtaking sunsets. The best thing to do is to buy a glass of sangria on the Praca Martim Moniz and then head up to the miradouro. The fantastic view makes the steep climb well worth it!

There are many beaches in the vicinity of Lisbon. My favourite is the Costa Caparica on the south bank of the Tejo. This section of beach is 10 kilometres long and has wonderful spots for surfing, and is also quieter and more idyllic than the busy Carcavelos. It is popular with the locals, and there are nice restaurants on each section of beach serving fresh fish at fair prices. Those without a car can take a bus from the Praca de Espanha. Once in Caparica, there is a small train that travels along the coast in summer. You simply hop out when you get to the right spot. It's the perfect day trip for sun worshippers and surfers.

If you're in Lisbon and want to enjoy a pleasant drink while soaking up a breathtaking view of the entire city, I can certainly recommend the PARK bar. It's somewhat tucked away, but still very central. The name says it all, because this bar can only be reached via a car park lift. There is no sign or clue to let people know what they can expect at the top – which is a hip and tastefully designed rooftop bar that transforms into a dance venue as the evening progresses. As they don't take reservations, it is worth getting here early if you want to grab one of the highly sought-after seats. An excellent insider tip – guaranteed!

The Primeiro Andar is a definite insider tip if you're up for a little adventure! Don't be alarmed if there's a rowdy basketball game going on as you enter the old sports hall. Just wait until it's safe to cross the court and make your way to the back of the hall, where the restaurant is. Inside, it's original and cosy, attracting a young crowd. The menu is short, but everything is home-made. Dance courses or concerts are held every now and then in the back of the restaurant. It's certainly a vibrant place and should definitely be seen.

A cost-conscious place to stay that I recommend in Lisbon is the Shiado Hostel in the centre of the Chiado. It has been designed and decorated by artists and reflects the joie de vivre and creative flair of the city. There are fantastic shops and small artists' boutiques on every street corner in Chiado. For those looking to take something home with them, the tiny, old-fashioned tins of fish from the Conserveira de Lisboa, a long-established company renowned for its 1930s style, are a refreshing alternative to port.

My highlight in Lisbon is Mercado 31 Janeiro. It's almost impossible to get enough of the fresh fruit, crisp vegetables, fish and meat available in the hall. And the food served in the market restaurant is fabulous! Book a table in plenty of time if you want lunch. Bom apetite!

The Unik Beach Lounge is located south of Lisbon on the Praia da Mata beach in Almada. There’s no better place to rest after a long sightseeing tour in the city. Apart from the lovely view onto the sea, the Unik Beach Lounge offers great drinks and freshly prepared local dishes. It’s perfect for relaxing and unwinding.

The «eleven» is my favourite restaurant in Lisbon. The restaurant has a modern, minimalistic interior and fabulous views of the city. German chef Joachim Koerper provides international dishes with a touch of Portugal. For a slow-paced, pleasant and enjoyable evening rather than a quick bite to eat.
