Madrid isn’t the oldest city in Europe, nor is it one of the loveliest, but it is without doubt one of the most versatile metropolises.

Full of contrasts, exciting and yet comfortable – it’s a city for art lovers and connoisseurs. Allow yourself plenty of time for the sights such as the magnificent Royal Palace, Almudena Cathedral, the Museo del Prado and the many restaurants, cafés and bars.

Definitely keep one day for an excursion: We recommend a visit to the old imperial city Toledo. Then a flamenco show in the evening, or simply find somewhere to sit in one of the large squares and watch the world go by. «Buena vida» still means something in Madrid, and there’s no «last orders» for «la marcha», the pub crawl.
