    Oasis of nature
Franklin Canyon Park is especially lush, and centrally located. Stars and ordinary folk enjoy long walks through the countryside, and it’s hard to believe that you’re actually in the second biggest city in the USA. • La Brea Tar Pits

    Fossil finds
A visit to these tar pits, where the remains from many different animals and plants have been preserved over the past 40 000 years, is well worth a visit. The majority of them can be seen in the museum. They include creatures from long bygone days such as the now extinct Camelops, the American Mastodon or the mammoth. The asphalt basin remains active to this day, and tar sits on the ponds in a thick film. A fascinating experience.

World-famous Venice Beach is to the south of Santa Monica. It is a two-and-a-half mile sand beach with pretty people. This, probably the most famous pedestrian walk in the world, covers 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street. • Universal Studios

    Studio tour
The little Universal Studios theme park was actually only the starting point for the studio tour that takes visitors behind the scenes of the film sets. Over time, the little park has grown into a big one, and is now one of the most-visited pleasure parks in North America. However, the main attraction is still the Studio Tour; the entrance is in the Upper Lot. It’s a 45-minute ride, and as well as seeing the original sets for movies and shows such as Spiderman, Desperate Housewives, Psycho and King Kong, you can also watch the stars in action. An unforgettable experience.

Cinespia - summer time outdoor movie screenings at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery! One of my favourite things to do during the summer! Bring a blanket, friends and a picnic and watch a popular movie projected on the side of a mausoleum with hundreds of people! Laying under the stars and swaying palm trees while watching a movie gives you a true appreciation for LA's beauty and uniqueness.
