Palma de Majorque

You want to try out the best gourmet restaurant? You’re looking for a cosy café? You’re looking forward to relishing local specialities? Or you want to turn the night into day at a cool club? Let our select choices inspire you.

    • Garlic & Shots

      Trendy restaurant
«A kitchen full of garlic and a bar loaded with 101 different flavoured vodka shots.» That's the motto of the three Swedish Olsson brothers. Each one has his own trendy restaurant, one in Palma, one in Stockholm and one in London. Each has the same interior and a hodgepodge of funny curios from everyday life. It’s a truly crazy restaurant – each of the excellent, reasonably priced dishes has garlic and no one notices. That’s how ingenious the cooks are with the healthy seasoning. Even the desserts are prepared with garlic. Bon profit! Enjoy your meal!

    • Garage Rex

Undoubtedly the island’s hotspot. Where cars were once repaired back in the sixties, now the trendsetters and «in» crowd meet at the bar for an aperitif. The minimalist interior of the lounge restaurant perfectly underscores the industrial chic and the meals are presented a cool manner consistent with the stylistic furnishings, though they're in no way minimalist – more on the generous side.

    • Simply Fosh

This place used to be the refectory for the missionaries in training at the former Convent de la Missió; nowadays it’s the restaurant of the famous star chef Marc Fosh, offering thrilling set meals and appealing dishes à la carte every day. In his own words, «Simply Fosh offers gastronomic highlights at affordable prices.» And all of that in this ambience! The stripped down modernity of this restaurant, with an interior courtyard, bar and lounge, is charming. It’s a wonderful, tranquil place that blocks out the throngs in the streets of Palma.

    • Bahia Mediterraneo

A pearl of Mediterranean architecture in turn-of-the-last-century style sits like a throne over the Bay of Palma and offers its guests one of the most beautiful terraces in the city. It’s gorgeous in the evening as it starts to get dark and the city begins to light up and glisten, the colourful lights are reflected in the waters of the harbour and the mighty cathedral seems to float in the golden corona of the spotlights. The perfect way to round off this unforgettable experience is with a glass of champagne and a heavenly meal at the Bahia Mediterraneo. An absolute highlight.

    • Forn des Teatre

      Historical café
This historic city café offers gorgeous art nouveau elements and the finest gató d’ametla (almond cake) for your enjoyment. The pastry shop has been bringing out sweet delicacies since the 19th century. It’s worth taking a break here and letting the exuberant bustle of Palma pass you by. One look at the fantastic art nouveau façade of the former Gran Hotel will also make your jaw drop.

    • Can Joan de S'Aigo

      Traditional ice cream parlour
This place, founded back in 1700, is easily the oldest café in Palma and hasn't lost one bit of the charm of earlier eras. Beneath playful candelabras, next to ornate glass cases, guests have been spooning up the homemade almond and strawberry ice cream from drinking glasses and dipping their oven-fresh ensaïmades in thick chocolate for generations. Mallorca’s oldest chocolate shop is nestled in a narrow lane near the Santa Eulalia church.

    • Alla Scala

Directly on the steps leading from the Plaça Weyler toward the Sant Miquel shopping mile you’ll find it: the perfect place to recuperate from your stroll through the city in the cosy, wide wicker armchairs made of water hyacinth. It’s paradise to just enjoy a café con leche and a snack while watching the tourists and passersby.

    • Cappuccino Palau March

      Popular meeting place
This is where the Palmesanos brace themselves for the day ahead. They have wonderful breakfast options and the location at the foot of the Gothic La Seu cathedral, the hallmark of Palma, is the perfect place to set off from on an extended stroll through the city. The surrounding shopping strips on the Passeig des Born, Avenue Jaime III and La Unión offer something for every taste, from Zara and Mango to Hugo Boss, Carolina Herrera and Adolfo Domínguez. Other Cappuccino shops are at the Passeig Marítimo and the Carrer Sant Miquel.

    • Puro Oasis Urbano

      Lounge bar
The Puro Hotel has a super-stylish lounge with the same name on the ground floor. Everything is smothered in the purest white except the bar, which is black. The laid back, cosmopolitan clientele meet here by candlelight to enjoy the DJ’s lounge sounds and house music. The decor includes leather stools and seat cushions in cosy niches. And the favourite drink of the house is champagne (though with understatement). You can get a decent meal at a fair price next door at the Opio restaurant.

    • El Pesquero

      On the harbour
A lovely location on the harbour’s old fishermen’s pier. Chic yachts rock back and forth in the water and fishermen lay their blue and green nets out to dry along the waterside promenade. The bar on the maritime sundeck attracts both young and old. From early morning until noon, guests can enjoy a cortado and exquisite cocktails and for dining we’d recommend tapas or the fish platter.

    • Tito‘s

Tito’s has been «the» club in Palma for 70 years. The party scene gathers here after 2 a.m. Take the glass lift up to the three-floor mega-disco. Ideally located on the waterside road, this is the place to party the night away.
