    • Okura Garden Hotel

      Central, but green
Centrally located close to the shops of Huaihai Lu, the Okura Garden Hotel does in fact have one of the largest gardens in the city – quite a rarity in Shanghai. One particular highlight is the Japanese Yamazato Restaurant, for years a meeting place for Japanese nationals who live here. The sushi is reputedly among the finest in the city.

    • Cachet Boutique Shanghai

      Design hotel
The Cachet Boutique has transformed a 1920s building on the elegant shopping street of Nanjing Xi Lu into a veritable gem that is simply bursting with exquisite design details. The modern furniture was created by the three designers who were responsible for revamping the building itself; over the beds hang vivid monochromes of old tuna cans or cigarette packets. Fresh coffee, tea, beer, cakes, fruit and small salads are available free of charge to guests 24 hours a day in the lobby lounge.

    • The Puli

      Urban resort
The Puli is an urban resort hotel, in the city but an oasis of relaxation at the same time: the luxurious design hotel stands between the high-rise jungle and the trees of Jing’an Park. Guests can enjoy the views from the comfort of their own bathtub. Buffet breakfast is available at the 32-metre lobby bar or to take away. The hotel is right on the no. 7 underground line that goes to the Expo Park.

    • 88 Xintiandi

      Small luxury hotel
The small luxury hotel in the entertainment district of Xintiandi has one main aim: to create an atmosphere of peace and quiet, and provide guests with the ultimate in relaxation. This is achieved by means of comfortable yet elegant furnishings that include both Chinese and Western elements, extra-thick carpeting and details like the “Sleep Guard”, a cushion under the bed that is filled with crystals and minerals that are said to neutralise harmful radiation. The hotel only serves breakfast, as there are more than enough restaurants in this area.

    • URBN Hotel

      Boutique hotel
Old leather suitcases on the walls and wooden floorboards rescued from old villas in the French Concession: the URBN Hotel in the lively Jing’an district shows that recycling, environmental awareness and sophisticated, laid-back design are by no means mutually exclusive. Housed in a former prosthesis factory, the boutique hotel has its own water treatment plant, an organic restaurant and elegantly designed rooms with lots of straight lines, lounge sofas and raised beds.

    • Hyatt on the Bund

      Luxury with views
From the terrace of the spectacular Bar Vue on the top floor of the Hyatt on the Bund, guests can look down from their loungers or the bubbling jacuzzi onto the historic Bund, the towers of Pudong and Suzhou Creek. There is virtually no other spot that offers a view of them all at the same time.
