Leipzig's Christmas Market is amazingly lovely. The medieval ambience makes it particularly special. Amongst other things, visitors can buy the world-famous "Schwippbögen" from the Erz Mountains here, the beautifully carved winter and nativity scenes that decorate almost every window in the city. Apart from the Church of St. Nicholas, which is famous for events such as the Monday Demonstrations, other attractions include waffles with whipped cream – the best you will ever find anywhere. For fortification after shopping, head for the Barfussgässchen, where you will find one restaurant next to another.
