There was a time when only women worked in this Italian restaurant in Berlin-Mitte – Bob’s your uncle and the once nameless restaurant had a name: Mädchenitaliener (roughly ‘Italian place where the girls work’). That’s not the case anymore but the name stuck. Men now work behind the open oven, conjuring up super tasty dishes. This place is a must for everyone who visits the capital. During the summer you can get a great seat outside and start the evening off just right with prosecco on raspberry purée and mint. The antipasto misto platter is a great starter and the constantly changing pasta dishes are pure poetry. My recommendations are the tagliatelle al limone with scampi and mint, and a really unusual type of pasta with fresh figs, fennel-salami and pine nuts. Make sure to book a table so you can finish the day on the right note after your extended shopping tour through Berlin Mitte.
