The biggest city in Ticino, Switzerland’s sun parlour, is surrounded by mountains and situated beside atmosphere Lake Lugano. Lugano is a small city with a charm that is all its own.

The cityscape is shaped by delightful parks, flowers, glorious villages, sacred buildings and the dreamy ambience of the lake. Lugano is also the third most important financial city in Switzerland with its own financial and banking centre. Lugano has everything one could want of a city.

Luxurious boutiques on the Via Nassa, impressive sights, plenty of culture and – naturally – a wealth of restaurants that are perfect for feasting and enjoying. So what is it that makes life in Lugano especially sweet? A delicious ice cream, of course, like the ones served in the popular ice cream parlour -9° Gelato, but also the many pools – «lidos» – around the lake.

Fortunately, though, the sweet life of Switzerland with lots of Italian zest sparkles well beyond the city’s borders, making the whole of the Ticino to a fabulous place for a holiday. Away from the bustle of the city, delightful accommodation and grottos are to be found in the vineyards. All this makes Lugano the perfect starting point for exploring Ticino with all its facets and attractions, and falling in love with its charm.
