Above all, Hanover is famous far beyond the regional borders for the Cebit, the world’s biggest information and telecommunication trade fair. However, the capital of Lower Saxony has much more to offer than that.

The very best German is spoken in Hanover and the surrounding area; the Maschsee is perfect for picnicking, the Herrenhausen Gardens delight their visitors, and no one will forget a visit to Hanover’s well-known and extremely popular Zoo in a hurry. The old streets have a charm of their very own, and the best place to experience it is on the Knochenhauerstrasse in the traditional Café Konrad.

Hanover is compact but not desperate; the shopping is elegant without showing off, and the dining excellent without being in any way stiff. Hanover has character, especially when you get to know it a little. There’s no doubt that everyone will soon find their favourite spot in the city.

With its wide range of museums, Hanover is as popular with culture-lovers as it is with night owls, who like to party hard in the popular Linden district or around the Steintor. It’s a multi-faceted town that is much more exciting than its reputation would indicate.
