You want to try out the best gourmet restaurant? You’re looking for a cosy café? You’re looking forward to relishing local specialities? Or you want to turn the night into day at a cool club? Let our select choices inspire you.

  • Restaurant The Bazaar

The SLS Hotel Beverley Hills is home to the most interesting and most extravagant tapas bar in the city. In The Bazaar, Spanish-born José Andrés mixes traditional tapas such as croquetas de pollo with modern molecular tapas such as liquid olives and candyfloss foie gras. Wow!

  • Umami Burger

    Gourmet burgers
Umami Burger has turned the world of the traditional burger on its head. Forget about fast food and quick, quick, quick. Umami serves delicious gourmet versions: from truffle to veggie burgers – fabulous. The burger creations are amazingly tasty and juicy.

  • Restaurant Forage

    Fresh & local
The name says it all: situated in the fashionable Silver Lake neighbourhood, the eatery serves up what local amateur farmers grow in their private gardens and provide for head chef Jason Kim’s kitchen. He then transforms his harvest into scrumptious, simple rustic dishes. Terrific and surprising concept.

  • Restaurant Asanebo

    Best sushi
The Asanebo in Studio City, on the «other side» of the Hollywood Hills, is one of the best sushi restaurants in Los Angeles. As soon as you walk into the comfortable, tasteful restaurant, you’ll feel as if you were in Tokyo. Although everything is perfectly delicious, we particularly recommend the «omakase» menu, where the dishes are put together individually by the sushi chef. Closed on Mondays.

  • The Tasting Kitchen

    Lively & inspiring
A fun and lively restaurant. Guests’ conversations are loud and excited, which makes for a cheerful and enjoyable atmosphere. Which probably also explains why the Tasting Kitchen is so popular and «in» in Los Angeles. It serves high-standard food made from market-fresh ingredients. The lavish Sunday brunch is highly recommended.

  • Restaurant Lucques

The market-fresh, seasonal cuisine of southern California is served at Lucques. Suzanne Goin’s cooking style is Mediterranean, which is why she named her restaurant Lucques, after an olive variety that is grown in the South of France. Comfortably rustic and with a touch of chic, this is the perfect place to enjoy a wonderful evening with fabulous food.

  • Restaurant Rivera

    Latin American cuisine
Hardly any other restaurant reflects Latin American traditions so authentically in its dishes as the Rivera. It is probably also the restaurant that provides the best culinary portrait of Latin America – a fusion of European cuisine and these Latin American influences. After all, making up some 50 percent of the city’s population, Latinos constitute a hefty majority in Los Angeles.

  • Intelligentsia

    Coffee bar
Starbucks is yesterday. The trend now is for outstanding small roasteries with their own coffee bars – like the Intelligentsia, for example. The company commissions fashionable architects to design its bars. The Intelligentsia in Venice was created by Ana Henton, a former student of Frank Gehry. Small wonder, then, that this coffee bar is a favourite with the neighbourhood’s young creative types. Other bars in Silver Lake and Pasadena.

  • Café La Mill

It’s rare for a café to exude as much glamour as La Mill. It turns coffee and tea into luxury drinks, and you can order melodious-sounding creations such as orange-infused cappuccino and Hong Kong milk tea. La Mill is also a bistro that serves excellent food. A particular delight: the sweets and desserts. Mhhh.

  • Library Bar

    Best cocktails
The legendary Roosevelt Hotel is home to the Library Bar. A little about the hotel’s history: it was opened in 1927 by stars of the silent screen; two years later, the first Oscar ceremony was held here. Now extensively refurbished, it shines in new-found glory. The Library Bar is situated right next to the imposing lobby, and it is where the best cocktails in Hollywood are prepared – not by regular bartenders, but by «mixologists».

  • Skybar

    Perfect lifestyle
An evening at the Skybar on legendary Sunset Strip is a definite LA must-do. Why? Because there is probably no other place that embodies the city’s lifestyle as perfectly as the outdoor/indoor bar of this designer hotel in the Hollywood Hills. The views of the logical sparkle and glitter of Los Angeles by night are breathtaking – the open-air terrace beside the pool is highly recommended.

  • Seven Grand

Downtown is the Mecca for nightlife away from the mainstream. One of the loveliest bars there is without doubt the Seven Grand, a combination of a bar and a British pub. The dark wood, tartan wallpapers and billiard table give the bar its particular charm. It has an impressive selection of whiskies, and there are often live concerts in the evenings.
