    • Gladstone Hotel

Every room a work of art
It’s a classic. The Gladstone was built in 1889, and is the oldest hotel in Toronto. Which is not to say it’s old and dusty; quite the opposite, in fact. Today it is one of the most exciting hotels in the city. The façade has been retained, but everything else has been completely redesigned, thanks to the rooms and suites that are the work of various Canadian artists. Every one of the 37 rooms represents a vision of the particular artist, and the rooms have names such as “Flight 316”, “Trading Post” and “Sugarbush”. The hotel also has various exhibition rooms. A gentle stroll around the area will quickly let you know that you are in the artists’ quarter. The hotel’s bar and restaurant are also highly recommended, and concerts are often held in the bar.
