    • East Hotel

      Design in St. Pauli
This stylish design hotel is in a former iron foundry at the heart of St. Pauli. Energy is said to flow from the lobby of the East all the way up to the 140 m² roof terrace, aided and supported by the round shapes and warm colours. Guests can relax in the Spa or Sporting Club. The names of the rooms – such as Mandarin, Ginger, Jasmine and Cinnamon – add a touch of the Orient, and in fact even smell like their names. Asian charm is reflected in the restaurant with the lounge and relax garden, as well as in Yakashi’s Bar. Incidentally, when asked where to find the best sushi in town, most Hamburgers will recommend the restaurant in the East. The absolute hotspot is the Club Upper East with 150 m² of LED video screens, 35 m of LED bars and a number of plasma screens.

    • The George

      Design hotel
This original design hotel is situated between the Alster and the «in» St. Georg district: The George. As a hotel guest, you’ll be pretty much amazed by the British tradition, colonial elements and contemporary creativity. The spa area reminds one of Marrakesh, while the gourmet restaurant DaCaio is Mediterranean. The bed throws are Indian saris, and specially-made jellyfish-shaped lamps hang in the lobby. Thanks to the British humour, boredom is unknown in The George. Incidentally, the owner of the hotel is Kai Hollmann, whose «empire» also includes the Gastwerk, the 25hours hotels and the Superbude hostel hotel.

    • Wedina Hotel

      Hotel and literature
This charming hotel is located between the Alster and the Lange Reihe in St. Georg. Since 1999, Swiss-born Felix Schlatter has been providing free accommodation here on the Alster for authors who are in the city to give readings. They include literary greats such as Martin Walser, Henning Mankell, Wolf Haas and the Japanese Nobel Prize winner Kenzaburo Oe. In return, they have to autograph their current work. There are now four shelves of them in the lobby of the red, 80s-style main part of the hotel. The three other houses that make up the hotel are blue, yellow and green, and are dedicated to various subjects.

    • Mövenpick Hotel

      Old water tower
The Swiss took over the huge old water tower in June 2007. The industrial monument in the Schanzenpark, which was built in 1910, was extensively refurbished for it. Water drops accompany guests from the entrance to the domed reception area. The lower floors of this 17-storey building contain the stylish Bar Cave and the delightful spa area. Guests are delighted by the fabulous 360-degree panoramic views from the Tower Suite – even from the bath! The two-storey restaurant, which serves Swiss cuisine, is all-glass. Thanks to its excellent conference rates and proximity to the Hamburg exhibition site, the Mövenpick Hotel also appeals to business travellers.

    • Grand Elysée Hamburg

      5-star hotel
The friendly, welcoming hotel Grand Elysée Hamburg is in the perfect location close to the Dammtor railway station. It was built in 1985 by Eugen Block, and extended in 2006 to become Hamburg’s biggest hotel. The spa and wellness area alone measures 1000 m². A partner hotel to the HSV football club, you might spot a couple of the players here during a home match. The artwork by Christina Block, the founder’s wife, is on display throughout the hotel. The boulevard with its restaurants, café and the open Bourbon Street Bar is a lively and popular meeting place. The oyster bar, which has an excellent selection of fruits de mer, is extremely popular.
