You want to try out the best gourmet restaurant? You’re looking for a cosy café? You’re looking forward to relishing local specialities? Or you want to turn the night into day at a cool club? Let our select choices inspire you.

    • Earth Café Marrakech

      Vegetarian and vegan
Marrakech is not exactly a mecca when it comes to meat-free cuisine. Thank heavens, however, for the Earth Café. This place serves up vegetarian and vegan dishes as well as one or two meat menus. The ambiance is colourful and cosy with no particular dress code. The restaurant has its own farm – fruit and vegetables are particularly fresh here and the dishes demonstrate the clever use of spices.

    • Le Foundouk

      Enchantingly mystical
Le Foundouk's ambiance could be described as mystical, perhaps even a little mysterious. Spread over three floors, it has a fantastic terrace, which offers an exceptional view of the medina. The menu features traditional Moroccan cuisine, as well as French and international dishes. The cosy lounge with stylish candelabras is the perfect place to round off an evening.

    • Le Tanjia

      Fabulous
This restaurant, like a stage set for Arabian Nights, can be a little overwhelming when you first come through the door. The ambiance is opulent, sophisticated and inviting, with its typical Moroccan lanterns. This is the place to come for live traditional music and belly dancers. The name of the restaurant also suggests the traditional dish that is served here – an aromatic lamb stew, slow-cooked in a clay pot for a number of hours. Tanjias are also available with chicken or vegetarian. Men are required to wear a shirt.

    • Pepe Nero

      Italian indulgence
Those who would like a break from Moroccan specialities will find the finest Italian cuisine in Pepe Nero. The pasta is, of course, homemade, and presentation here is everything. Fish lovers and carnivores will not be disappointed either. The culinary experience is complemented by the palatial riad setting and outstanding service. The carefully compiled wine list is also well worth a look.

    • Restaurant Djelabar

      Creative and trendy
Restaurant Djelabar is to Marrakesh what the Buddha Bar is to Paris. Created by DJ Claude Challe, the Djelabar, where Moroccan traditions meet pop culture, has become one of the city's top venues. The Djelebar has reinvented Moroccan cuisine and serves up fusion cuisine to the latest beats. The bar and restaurant are the types of place where you wish the night would never end.

    • La Trattoria de Giancarlo

      Poolside eating
Master interior designer, Bill Willis, who helped design Yves Saint Laurent's fascinating Villa at the gates of Marrakech, also designed the interior of this restaurant. The ambiance is unique, with the tables around the pool bathed in the light of candles and lanterns. If no tables are available straight away, the Art Deco bar is the perfect place to partake in an aperitif. This place serves Italian classics, as well as exquisite fish and meat dishes.

    • Café des Epices

At the heart of the souk
At the heart of Marrakech's medina and souks, the Café des Epices is an absolute must for a laid-back coffee or tea break to recover from all the shopping and bartering. The café is simple yet cosy, and its ochre and red-coloured interior make it very inviting. The first floor offers wonderful views over the medina.

    • Le Grand Balcon Café Glacier

      Fantastic views
To put it bluntly, you come here for the view. The view of the Jemaa el-Fnaa is simply fabulous. The hectic service here can almost be forgiven – after all, there are the goings-on in the square to observe, a couple of obligatory photos to take, and tea, coffee or something refreshing to drink before heading back into the hustle and bustle of the city. If you skip the food here, you won't have missed anything

    • Kosybar

      The in place
Not without reason has the Kosybar become one of the city's top venues. The view of the medina from the large terrace is out of this world. Marrakech aficionados claim that there is no better place to watch the sunset – which makes it easier to turn a blind eye to the careless service. The cocktail menu caters for absolutely all tastes, and the wine list features a wide selection of international wines. Live concerts are held regularly at weekends, and a range of sandwiches, tapas, pasta and sushi keep hunger pangs at bay.

    • Pacha Marrakech

      Morocco's biggest club
Indeed, the cherries emporium also has an offshoot in Marrakech. Although slightly different from its sister club in Ibiza, it is nevertheless a must for all lovers of nightlife. Opened in 2005, this club is the largest of its kind in any of Morocco's cities. A huge dance floor, a cosy chill-out lounge, a large pool and two restaurants cater to the diverse tastes of all party animals. They play mainly funk, soul, and R'n'B, and even David Guetta is known to drop in on occasion.

    • Café Arabe

      Drinks on the terrace
The first thing that stands out about Café Arabe is the fabulous, typically Moroccan ambiance with its lanterns, lighting, sofas and striking use of colour. The stylish terrace is perfect for enjoying the sunset with a glass of champagne, a delicious drink or a light snack. Needless to say, the oriental decor makes the inside of the restaurant just as inviting.
